Isobel Benesch, Founder

Isobel Benesch is the Founder of Atlas of Motherhood, the first maternal wellness platform to share the best mother care and support practices from around the world to create a globally-inspired maternal health program. Prior to founding AOM, Isobel Benesch spent 10 years as a clinical researcher working with some of the top pharmaceutical and medical device companies within the industry, bringing life-changing drugs and devices to market.

As the mother of four boys, Isobel experienced pregnancy, birth, and postpartum in two different countries with vastly different health care systems, cultural beliefs and views, and priorities in standard perinatal care. AOM is a clinically-designed education program developed after two years of research on global maternal healthcare. Isobel is a trusted expert in pregnancy and postpartum care for mothers and has helped transform the care and support of mothers during the most significant transition of their lives, motherhood.

Recent research found a significant increase in self-reported levels of depression and anxiety, and substantial reductions in physical activity in pregnant women from before to during COVID times. If left untreated, physical ailments and mental illness during pregnancy or in the first year after birth will continue to have a devastating impact long after the pandemic is under control. A proactive approach is needed to overcome these barriers, which is where The Atlas of Motherhood comes in.

The Atlas of Motherhood offers women a holistic collection of education and tools needed to support a mother’s physical, emotional, and mental journey to motherhood. It creates a connection through the bond of motherhood during a time when human connection is needed more than ever. The sharing of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journeys from mothers around the world helps to heal, empower, teach, and offer alternatives, thereby building collective knowledge on childbirth and improving outcomes for mothers and mothers-to-be.
